The Hanover Enhances Auto Coverage, Encouraging Customers To “Drivesmart”—Because It Is Costly To Do Otherwise
—Better Value & “Smart Savings” for Customers
Helps Agents Improve Cross-Selling Effectiveness—
WORCESTER, Mass. (October 28, 2008) – The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. (NYSE: THG), a leading super regional property and casualty company, announced today that it is expanding its Connections® Auto product to include new optional personal insurance that will enable drivers to benefit from “Smart Savings” in the event of a loss.
The new coverage endorsement, DriveSmart Advantage, demonstrates The Hanover’s commitment to providing independent agents with world class, customer-friendly products at competitive prices, supporting their role as valued professionals who take care of their customers’ needs. At the same time, this enhancement makes it easier for The Hanover’s agent partners to offer a total account solution to customers—an advantage for independent agents competing with direct writers.
“Not all savings are created equally. Often, discount insurers offer savings that mean sacrifice. DriveSmart Advantage offers consumers better value and smart savings that are the direct result of the quality of coverage or service we provide,” said Gary Y. Kusumi, personal lines president at The Hanover. “This enhancement illustrates the value The Hanover brings to its partnerships with independent agents, helping them to compete and win in an increasingly competitive environment.”
Customers will realize the DriveSmart Advantage value through three competitive features:
New Car Replacement Guard, which pays the value of a new vehicle—without deduction for depreciation—if an insured’s car is involved in an accident and declared a total loss within one year of purchase, or 15,000 miles, whichever is sooner.
Second Chance Accident Forgiveness, which waives the surcharge for one at-fault accident under a driver’s policy every 36 months. That means, no surcharge points for the accident on the policy and no increase in premium as a result of the accident.
Deductible Dividends, which automatically reduces an insured’s collision deductible by $100 and will reduce the deductible $100 further at each annual renewal, up to a maximum of $500, for each year a policyholder goes without a chargeable accident.
With DriveSmart Advantage, The Hanover’s customers also can benefit from other smart savings that reduce the cost of insurance, such as account credits; no fee electronic funds transfers; paid-in-full discounts and much more!
DriveSmart Advantage will be available to new and renewal Connections Auto customers countrywide subject to state guidelines. Customers should call their local independent agent for more information, or to add the coverage to their policy.
